Deep in the misty mountains of western Hunan, China, a remarkable grove has stood for centuries. Here, 2,057 ancient tea trees — some over 400 years old — continue to produce leaves of extraordinary quality.

At the heart of the grove stands the “Tea Tree King,” the oldest of the 2,057 ancient trees at 417 years of age. Planted during the Ming Dynasty, this living monument has witnessed over four centuries of history — through dynasties, wars, and the passage of time — yet still produces tender new buds every spring. Scientific鉴定 by the Hunan Academy of Forestry has confirmed these trees range from 74 to over 417 years old, making this one of the oldest scientifically verified tea tree populations in China.
